Leadership

Developed over many years building and leading award-winning teams in world-class companies, my leadership style is a hybrid of servant and participative leadership.

As an introvert, my natural tendencies are towards listening, empathy, and a high degree of thoughtfulness. These traits, combined with a finely-tuned and hard-earned sense of self, make me a quietly influential leader.

My skills of persuasion allow me to lead successfully outside of my immediate team and within a wider business context. This is particularly evident in garnering support and sponsorship from investors or executive leadership.

I believe that a successful team is one that is empowered, supported, and creatively nourished. This is the culture I strive to build for my teams, and is modelled on cultures where I flourished earlier in my career.

Self-Awareness

After many years as a professional, I am able to look at myself, think about my emotions and behaviours, and consider how these influence the people and situations around me. I am aware of, navigate, and learn from my own weaknesses. I also invest in being aware of my team’s individual strengths and weaknesses to help them grow and learn.

Listening

I believe in allowing people to be heard, listening carefully to what is being said and, often, what is not being said. I give conversations my full attention, noticing nonverbal cues, avoid interrupting, and give input when I believe it will have most impact. I synthesise my observations and insights to uncover opportunities and growth.

Empathy

Caring about my teams on a personal level is a priority because I believe a team’s happiness and fulfilment contributes hugely to their individual and collective success. I value others' perspectives and always approach situations with an open mind. I aim to create a safe and nurturing environment in which creatives can perform at their peak of their potential.

Stewardship

I always acknowledge and understand the importance of my responsibilities, protecting and upholding the trust and confidence given to me in my role, and ensuring I communicate this to my teams. I try to lead by example, modelling the values and behaviours that I want to see in others.

Persuasion

I am adept at guiding and persuading team members, partners and senior leadership. Where authoritarian leaders tell people what to do, I always explain my methods and use compelling narratives to yield the right outcomes or establish a direction. Being able to convince people and build a consensus towards action is a valuable asset.
